I saw a potential unusual photo opportunity at Whitechapel today. However, it involves taking a photo of a train running into, or more likely out of, the East end of Platform 1. My question is how often are there train movements out of this end of this particular platform. I think I'm right in saying that most District EB trains run through platform 2, and the H&Cs reverse in platform 1? Thus could I be waiting an awfully long time to get the shot?

Because of a fault with 25 points (west end of platform 1), all east / west reversers can only use platform 2. So trains going east from platform 1 are actually highly usual at the moment ;D ;D ;D

Sometimes when the track recorder train will be running on the District Line, one of the alterations for its special path is that the H+C reverser at Whitechapel will be in platform 2, and during this time, all the EB Districts will be revised to go through platform 1. This allows the Track Recorder to pass through platform 1 which is usually occupied by the H+C reversers.
And indeed that is what is scheduled to happen again soon in June, subject to confirmation and those points being fixed. I'd supply the details, but I don't think that’s appropriate for a public forum. And no one can guarantee it, and of course there could be disruption that day.
I don't believe there is a timetabled move though for that.
