Ok so it was a plane crash that started it, but it can't be all related. 7th day in a row now that there have been severe delays in and out of Euston. BCC are saying that it's all the result of the £9billion ( ) upgrade being completed too hastily...what's the good of spending that much money if you're not going to do the work properly?

I got through on Monday at the only point it seems to have been working this week... Even travelling on it tonight London Midland services at Harrow were being delayed by about half an hour, so it was quicker to use Overground...

All was well on Friday 9th - on the 07.30 Euston to Glasgow - right time at Glasgow Central at 12.01.
However, return on Monday 12th turned out to be better than first feared. Got 08.40 ex-Glasgow Central, already knowing that, because of overnight flooding and a landslide (so they said) between Shap and Oxenholme, a bus would be provided between Carlisle and Preston. About 10 minutes before arrival at Carlisle, an announcement came that the train was to be "the first one through". What a stroke of luck, or what! Being the first one through the road, the driver took it steady between Carlisle and the affected area, meaning that the train was an hour late by Preston - but what the heck, far better than a bus ride between Carlisle and Preston, carting all the luggage, and then struggling to get a seat again at Preston.
As a matter of interest, there were four Virgin Pendolinos stabled at Carlisle, which must have been the first four southbound services which had to terminate there.
Great credit to Virgin Trains, they seemed to be "on the ball" with this one - the information was timely and accurate.

Well, when we called at Carlisle at 09.50 on Monday 12 January(instead of getting off onto a bus as we first thought we might have to), there were definitely four Pendolinos stabled around the station - two on the NB side north end and two on the SB side north end.
