Are any special events being planned to commemorate this milestone (other than possibly the complete saturation of the line with S stock)?

Don't talk to me about S stock!!!! If the mock up is anything to go by the Met will be a far worse place........just build an identical batch of A stock..that's what I say! At least it'll be certain they'll last 50 years! Anyway, it's funny you mention a Met birthday, as the Met has it's 146th on Saturday!

I would certainly hope so! I'd love to see some A stock, 1938 stock, Sarah and the Ashbury coaches up from the bluebell, along with E class tank no1. Maybe even the CO/CP stock-but I wouldn't hold you're breath.
The short answer is however, I don't know!

Just about everything at present, for one reason or another, is being put back to "after the Olympics." If everything that has been put back, suddenly starts to happen just after the Olympics, then come 2013 I don't think much will be running.
The 145th anniversary passed without many commenting last year, and certainly there's certainly nothing for the 146th, but we can only wait and see.

As important as the 150th will be in 2013, not only of the Met, but also of "the Underground", I doubt if we will ever see anything like the variety in the "parade" of stock that took place back in 1963, not only because the 'Klondyke' roads now have a high fence (and I can't see that being removed, 150th or not!) and, of course, many stocks are line specific and it would take a lot of effort to get them to Neasden and back. I know there are 1962 tube pilots, but ..................
