Turnham Green signal cabin closed in October 1963. It was located at the west end of the station between the westbound local and fast (District and Piccadilly) tracks.
It was demolished many years later, I believe in the early 1990s, but can't find a date in my records. Can anyone help, please? I think that it was during a weekend possession when there were no trains (District or Picc) through the area but again, can't be sure.

Hmmm. I've done some digging - and need to do a bit more. Most of the information I've found relates to (I think) why it stayed there so long.

Was it because of the tripcock tester in the e/b fast platform?

Hmmm. I've done some digging - and need to do a bit more. Most of the information I've found relates to (I think) why it stayed there so long. Mmm, I don't know what operational reason may have kept the cabin in situ but I can say that the building was in use as a Communications Maintenance store right up until it was due to be demolished. I recall going there circa 1992 to claim any useful items before much of what was there was sent to the skip. At one time there were many such stores located both on and off the railway and on the District line Turnham Green was one of several, others were at Stamford Brook under the arches, Earls Court in the rooms along the walkway beneath the EB platforms, Sloane Square WB platform, St James's Park EB platform, Victoria behind the WB platform and Embankment EB platform. Of course it was the habit for many years to use unoccupied space in the way and most engineering departments had glory holes such as these all over the combine in the days prior to devolution of engineering.
