Where there's a single crossover, e.g. Queensway or South Ken on the District (is that one still there?), can trains reverse both ways across the points or is it one way only?

Depends on the signalling availability. Trains can reverse both ways at South Kensington (SSR). However at Hounslow Central and Hatton Cross, they can't!

In the case of Queensway - QUE3254 (WB Home signal) has 2 routes - (1) to the WB platform over the crossover normal and (2) to the EB platform over the crossover reverse. However, QUE3253 (EB starting signal) has only got a fibre-optic shunt for the move.
In other words, W - E reversing can be done with passengers on; but E - W cannot.

Yes indeed, West to East reversers only at both sites but from both platforms at Hatton Cross (crossovers 6 & 7) and only the westbound platform at Hounslow Central.
