From the LU website:
DISTRICT LINE: Minor delays are occurring due to earlier signal failure at Farringdon on the Circle line.
Message received 1:06pm
Can someone please tell me how this is delaying the District, but not the Circle, H&C or Met lines? If the Circle etc was also reporting delays, then that is fine, as obviously the knock-on effect on the District is always felt if the Circle is delayed, but they're apparently running fine and only the District is delayed?
Yet more dodgy information coming from 55 Broadway I suspect.

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

Broadmore indeed! You may find that the District is still running late while the Circle has already been recovered. The District line is a bigger beast and thus takes longer to reform. The Circle is only 7 trains per side and in theory can be reformed back on book within an hour. The Mets may well have been turned short (Baker/Moorgate) and so ended up with very little late running, while the H&C can do the same too.

Ok, the original question related to how one line could be recovered quicker than another. With regards to your point, they just aren't updating the web site quick enough or the line has suffered further knock on delays as a result which are hampering the recovery process. You can pick which one you think is likely, I know which one my moneys on!

Bit patchy tonight - at Embankment eastbound at 1720 ish was a Mansion House (set 3) - a Tower Hill and a Circle.
Passengers building up nicely on the platforms..

OK Get your point. I was already thinking they wouldn´t update too often, but how come I later on saw something about the H & C being disrupted due to signal failure (or something ) at Barking - how come the District wasn´t affected by this...

Erm, not on today but at a guess if it affected the bay road where the H&C's reverse then that would hit them and not the District, or they had a problem on the main line and reduced the H&C service in order to allow the District's more time through the area. Just guessing here though!

They couldn't get the route into the bay road at Barking, so the H&Cs had to either reverse via the sidings, making them late, or turn short at Plaistow. District line rarely uses the bay road so no effect on us.

The recovery of the District service has had to take a 'back seat'............
Because of a gas leak, the service will be suspended Dagenham East to Upminster from 10pm. That will obviously cause problems as 22 trains stable at Upminster after that time - then there's the normal service, which will put Barking sidings under pressure as trains are turned short.
I don't know the full extent of the problem - especially the fact that trains are still running till that time - but there's a lot of head scratching going on in the control room, as trains are likely to be out of position tomorow morning.....

I would be interested to hear exactly what was going on. I was rest day and "up town" returning home from Monument was far from impressed to be greeted with a succession of Barking / Circle and Dagenham East services ....and no explanation after 6 trains i concluded something was up and phoned the station control room to be told no service beyond Dagenham. No information on replacement buses, but got to Tower Hill and then told service suspended beyond Whitechapel. I abandoned the District for C2C and still under the impression no buses, went to Rainham and caught a service bus and walked. I gather there were replacement buses, yet even the following day DMT's told me there were not any buses. A real quality performance on the information front

Earls Court was plastered with posters announcing the change of service, and the replacement buses from around 1830 - and their station control room were doing PA's. I must admit, I never heard a peep from the line information bod (they can do PA's to all stations along the line). It's always the way though innit - you either get 400 announcements telling you the same thing or nothing at all

We get a bit of info over the radio such as part of a line suspended, but no info on what the passengers are supposed to about it. Are NR taking our tickets? Is there a replacement bus? We're rarely told.
