How many stations still have original Leslie Green tiling? (I mean substantial amounts, not just a few ceiling rings and the rest as replica.)

Ah yes. I must admit Gloucester Road fooled me into thinking the original was still present.
Still, if LT had done them in the 1970s they'd probably all be Victoria Line grey with maybe the odd contrasting seat recess a la Old Street.

Covent Garden, is virtually the only station that I am aware of that hasn't had the 'refurbishment'.

I believe Hyde Park Corner is still largely original, and I think Holloway Road remains untouched. There's also Holborn Platform 5 and Aldwych of course. There is, of course, plenty of original tiling out of public view.

I could do a better job of tiling Covent Garden then what seems to be happening there (Would take me a while though! How about the forum take on a station refurb and do it properly? ). There simply is no attention to detail; the grouting and tile spacing is terrible. Where tiling is on a curve of tight radius, the tiles have been broken diagonally, but this is not the case on the original tiles, with the resultant unorganised look.

At Wanstead they seemed to have lacked both a spirit level and ruler. At Bethnal Green the tiles have a minutely-bevelled edge which means more of the grouting is exposed, especially on the darker coloured tiles (i.e. black or red), destroying the continuation. Corporate vandalism.

But why has noone been taken to task for all this though? Especially when what its replacing looks better than the new?? Surely the ambiance goes down after a poor refurb?

Because the system now operates within the framework of a failed PPP combined with the worst senior management team that London Underground has ever seen?
