When we were training`as guards and motormen we were trained at white City. I know the underground phased out guards, so where do you train now.

"wow" times have changed, hell the tension created in white city when I was training, signalmen/guards/motormen, still it had to happen. Is it all an office block! and is headquarters still 55 the broadway!, thankyou for replying

Hey. Yeah Headquarters is still 55 Broadway. I'm too new in the company to have been to White City but I spend most of my time in and out of Ashfield. It's an 8 story office block, you can see it to your left coming into West Kensington station from the city on the district. Quite nice, new Apprentice wing 2nd floor East opening soon

The last time I was on the Tube was before we moved 1977. Im afraid I couldnt get used to the way of life now, here Im so used to peace and quiet and slowness of pace of life, but this site looks great and I can reminiss about the past, the stock, the lads, the stories, the adventures.

I've always found Ashfield House to be one of the most depressing places I've ever been in on LUL,much preferred White City.

A couple of pictures of the new training facilities at Ashfield House: Seems like a lot of the bits and pieces that were lying around in the old miniature railway room on the ground floor have been taken out and installed here, whilst the railway room itself has been moved to another floor.

Looks like that's a mock-up of the '83 stock.

"wow" thats so different than in my day, the motormans cab was only available either training on real stock, not like you have it now. In White City we only had a small section of Track, you have a lot of toys (lol) to play with, brilliant training facilities, Id love to see that, but its not possible, well done London Transport.

I believe White City training centre closed some time in early 1996. I joined July 1996 as a guard, and trained at Ashfield House, a colleague of mine who joined a few months earlier trained at White City.

I've always found Ashfield House to be one of the most depressing places I've ever been in on LUL. I agree. AH is horrible! I was lucky enough to visit White City in 1993 (only a young pup ha ha - with my grandad) and have a bash on their model railway with working signal frames!!!! Great piece of kit. I remember saying to the Central line DCM with us: "When I'm a grown up, if I don't get to be a driver I'd like to be a signalman......" The answer was: "Well Alex, when you're a grown up, there won't be boxes with levers - it'll all be computers!!!!" Sitting in a traditional cabin in my present role, that memory makes me chuckle
