Somewhat belatedly the ELL is being taken off LU line diagrams albeit a year after it closed! Perhaps these attempts can only be given 7 out of 10! They correctly imply that Whitechapel and New Cross, New Cross Gate stations remain open, but also suggests that a non-stop service now operates between them! If only! Those signs also show the H&C in the Met colour, although they have been changed so that they have 'Hammersmith & City' written on them, and one of them doesn't show the Met going to Aldgate!

That belongs in the Museum Depot! Very strange thing to do - adding the Jubilee line interchange at Westminster might have been useful.

How old is that diagram at Barbican? Double lined purple for the ELL - that must have gone decades ago.

It went in the early 90s - around the same time as the H&C went pink. 1990 perhaps?

That's about right - the publicity poster had Orangeade being poured into a oversize hollow ELL as it appeared on the Tube map. I have a memory it was late 1990, followed by the H&C going pink a little later?

UndergrounD Maps of the time show the ELL going orange from the 4/90 map and the H&C going pink from the 7/90 edition.

I'd be very interested to see editions of these maps, even as a poor quality photo or something!
Its a pity there isnt a photo catalouge of every edition of the map printed; thats not to belittle the work of Max or Ken Garland, mind, but would just be interesting to see the little changes evolve, and the printing erors of some.

As for the sign at Farringdon, the Met to Aldgate was possibly not shown on the map as it was at the time a peak hour only service?

Sorry for multipul posts, having taken a look at that entire photo stream, theres a picture of Waterloo Southbound on the Bakerloo where the destinations are listed, however the enamel panel underneath that with Elephant looks slightly different. Does anyone know whether this panel is a replacement for one with Camberwell on it? Or if, indeed, there was anything other than a blank panel here?

Many thanks for the maps! Thats quite a substantial redesign between what the Garbut map evolved into, and what the current map has (d)evolved from; and yes, thats the pic I was talking about!
