In the evening -when heading for home via Blackfriars - we sometimes get held on the e/bound at Embankment presumably to regulate the service through the city.
This stresses out some of the passengers who are heading for particular trains from Blackfriars mainline - e.g there is only one train for Ashford at 1802 - though I am OK for Thameslink northbound.
Any way the regulation point could be made at Blackfriars - saving a lot of commuter stress as they ar making particular timed connections ? Or is it an auto signal ?

blackfriars e/b starter is a auto signal so this would not be possible the service must be always up the wall when you travel then as embankment is usually 99.9% of the time in automatic working anyways with no input from the regualtor

Doesnt happen too often - though it did last night about 1725
A hat trick one night when there were only 3 Circles on the Board - all perfectly spaced at 8 mins each - have they taken over ? (joke !) - about 12 days ago one evening .

Embankment has a semi-auto signal because of the reversing point there. As a regular commuter from Charing Cross, I'm quite happy for Embankment to be the regulating point!

Regulation can be very useful for the service as a whole, but it does involve slightly delaying passengers, some of whome may be in a rush. At the end of the day, you can't keep everyone happy.
Hopefully when the ATO systems are implemented, trains may be regulated and space automatically, and at any station. This should result in less regulation stops at stations such as Baker St (Jubilee NB) and Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly EB).

As a general rule, Embankment is not used to regulate the service - the places that are used are: Earls Court Tower Hill Whitechapel Barking However, a train reversing at Mansion House can delay things, as can a train waiting to access Tower Hill bay road - especially in the evening peak with trains running close together. Mind you, you're not the only one that likes to connect with certain trains - I use c2c from Fenchurch Street, so sometimes I like to get a good run through the city too!! ;D

As Colin says Embankment is not used that often ....but is from time to time.
Mansion House is used all the time though.
Another reason for trains waiting at Embankment is a driver using the toilet facility at Temple e/b, plus, for some reason the overlaps on Temple approach e/b are quiet long, i invariably get held at both the outer and inner homes when following one in front.
Other odd locations I've been regulated recently include Temple w/b and Upney e/b. I was far from impressed to be regulated at Dagenham East e/b after midnight one eve for about 5 mins, truly serving only to delay passengers on board ...i was early though !
Three identical destinations on a dot matrix always looks odd. I wonder if that was the same day following severe disruption, when i noted trains passing me eastbound in the order Upminster - Whitechapel - Circle - Circle - Circle - Tower Hill - Mansion House - Tower Hill - Circle - Upminster. (The Upminster's passing me at Whitechapel and Sloane Square !!!!!)

No problems tonight - despite torrential rain - though I got the Mansion House terminator at about 1732 into Blackfriars whihc was a refurb set. This is always a good train "comfort" wise - but I am always amazed at the number of people who stay on it after Bfrs despite a plethora of on train and station announcements to exit at Bfrs for a same platform onward connection. It would be more usefull turning at Tower Hill for Cannon Street and "LT&S" main line passengers but I guess there isnt a slot for it.
Out of curiousity - what does it form back out from Mansion House ?
Usefull and illuminating answers - especially about the drivers PN point at Temple ! Thanks. l

There is only one scheduled Mansion House reverser - and that's in the morning (around 0600 IIRC). The train you were on would have been a late running Tower Hill train, reversed early to get back on time for it's westbound journey.
