The other day, I got on a train at Stanmore, and noticed it still had the old moquette. I can't remember the car number, but I know it was one of the 96TS Mk2 trains because I was in the second car of the train, and it had the newer flooring and DMI.

yeah all three of the mark 2's retain the old stuff and all trains have it in the cab sadly I don't think any 1995 ts have the old stuff and they must have done it very quick!

Not sure why no one has responded to your post astock5000, but I'm sure someone can help.
In regards to moquette being replaced, the mark 2 trains have not had theirs replaced, but the mark 1 units were back in 2007 IICR.
I travelled on a mark2 today. As mentioned, new DMIs as they display orange instead of red, as seen on the District Line. The trains also seem to travel a lot quieter and smoother. The mauve and turquoise moquettes look wonderful in comparison to the new.

And the heating works, very rare on the 96ts (except 7th cars)

I prefer the old moquette too, both on the Jubilee and Northern. It wasnt kept very clean on the Northern though, plenty of organic fluff.

In regs to quieter, I am pretty certain they were. Still obviously had the distictive sound when taking off and slowing down but it was on a much quieter scale.
