Ive just used the jounery planner to give me a rough idea on how to get to a Kentish Town on monday from Stratford. What it came up with has surprised me as stupid. It suggests I route my jounery as such
Tube Stratford - Liverpool Street
Walk Liverpool Street - Moorgate
Tube Moorgate - Kentish Town
Is it me or am I missing something here? This is a peak hour jounery so should it be telling me to get out and walk where there is a prefectly reasonable jounery? Or is the system just rubbish?
It also suggests National Rail from Stratford to Liverpool Street.
Another question is if someone did this on Oyster pay & go would they have to pay a two fares for something that should be one?

This is a peak hour jounery so should it be telling me to get out and walk where there is a prefectly reasonable jounery? Kentish Town West on the NLL is a significant trek from Kentish Town station (13 minutes, says the journey planner). So any journey that can take you to Kentish Town station has a 13 more minutes for the actual journey. Look at it this way - it's recommending a 9 minute hike from Liverpool Street to Moorgate over a 13 minute walk from Kentish Town West to Kentish Town. They'd be charged twice. The OJP makes no attempt to make its journeys match TfL's fares regime. (unlike the National Rail planner, which until recently could only recommend journeys that were permitted on a single ticket)

But shouldn't it say use Circle/Hammersmith & City/Met instead? Also need to get to Kentish Town (the training course is actually on one of the platforms) not Kentish Town West, will have to see if its quicker going that way then!

Depending where in Kentish Town you need to be, Kentish Town West may be the better station. However, I don't think that is the source of the query - which is why walk from Liverpool Street to Moorgate when you could just change at Bank. The answer to that is that the journey planner has presumably been told to tell people to avoid Bank (cf the many discussions on what is as isn't true about that station). There was a list of out of station interchanges valid on PAYG published on London Reconnections a couple of days ago, but as I can't see it I don't know whether Liverpool Street - Moorgate is counted as one or two journeys.
