At approx 1800 hrs on Saturday there was a C
stock at Turnham Green on the east showing an
Edgware Road destination. In what circumstances
are C stock used away from their usual Wimbledon
workings?

Any number of reasons would cause this - signal/points failure, stalled train, security alert, emergency engineering work, 'passenger action', train returning from Ealing Common depot, to name a few (obviously apart from the Ealing one, they'd be problems affecting the Wimbledon branch).
Whilst I wasn't working Saturday, I'm sure there would have been a logical explanation - most likely involving one of the above.

I think the odd C stock has been venturing to Ealing Broadway recently to cover gaps caused by cancellations due the Acton Town remote booking on dispute. Unfortunately not when I had 4 hours on one today!

Sorry to drag this up, but I've been clearing out the photos from my phone, and going east early one morning a few weeks back whilst doing nights caught this C stock train at Ravenscourt Park westbound. The C stock service was diverted from the Wimbledon branch to Ealing due to failing signals.
