Apropos Heathrow expansion,3rd runway,6th Terminal etc......
Those of us with long memories recall that planning permission for Terminal4 was granted ON CONDITION that this marked the end of new terminals at Heathrow ,and that the (then) existing perimeter marked the limit to geographical expansion.
Heightens trust in a fair and transparent planning process,doesn't it?
Looking at the plans for Crossrail,it seems to me to suffer from "rubbish interchange syndrome" which affects so many modern projects.....look at the JLE at Waterloo and London Bridge,the new Thameslink at King's Cross etc.......advertised as interchanges,the one at Waterloo is so distant they've had to use travelators otherwise it'd take ages,and has anyone tried to change from (say) the Victoria Line at King's X to the new Thameslink station? 10 mins walk,poor signposting,a nightmare.......it'd be worth re-opening the old station to serve the Tube,if it weren't for the short platforms.
Double rant over for now.

Its a pity that politics works on the assumption that the proletariat are stupid, or have memories worse than a goldfish. Indeed wasn't Heath Row one of the first sites around London to be discarded as a potential replacement site for Croyden, on grounds of very fertile soil and lack of room for expansion?. At one point wasnt Debden favoured far more?
Without wanting to highjack this thread who here is actually pro R3 and T6?
