When the line was opened in 1968, why wasn't that station considered an interchange with British Rail? By the mid '70s, I remember maps showing its BR interchange.

The British Rail station was originally across the road, but certainly closer than the two Brixton stations.
I don't know why the original maps didn't show an interchange though - they added the interchange well before the British Rail station moved to its current location.
