Travelling in car 7086 I found water pouring in from the 'D' end with the corner seat soaked. Also the wet, smooth, floor provided no grip for my rubber-soled shoes when compared to the old maple wood. Progress, eh?

I've have been on a fair few recently with water leaking in from the roof through some slits, plus from the air con units.
World Class eh!

**wonders how long into the S stock replacement people moan about the end of the D stock**

They've only leaked since they visited Bombardiers works in Derby. I've seen all 3 types of car leak too so ii's not just the cab cooling causing the problems. The cabs leak from the front door rather a lot when it rains too.

The cabs leak from the front door rather a lot when it rains too. And when they do, the water now has an uninterrupted passage into the saloon. Still, that may get fixed soon.

Had a look at your link singaporesam,
Read the penaltys notice from Taipei metro if you can, quite an extensive range of fines for all the behaviour we put up with on our trains.

Are Bombardier resealing all of the roofs and windows again on refurb ? I remember before we did the roof sealing exercise after a few door irregs revealed very low megger readings in the Early 90´s . The water could ebb and flow along the car roof with acceleration a bit like the flow of a tide.
There were also a number of times when traction cases were found doing good impressions of fish tanks.

I had one so bad the other week (7091 East end cab) I actually called and had them send a cleaner with a mop for 'health and safety reasons' .. it was like a swimming pool !

Come now, be reasonable. The people who designed the D stock would not have been expecting rain in London.....

I never saw any leaks before refirb so i'll assume that was sorted quite a few years ago.
On refirb though, BTUK cut new holes in the roof and these I reckon these are the new weak points. On stabling a train the other night, it stank of damp in the UNDM?, (or was it the trailer?) either way, it was rotten.

I agree, the cabs have always leaked, I don't think that will ever be stopped completely, but In my time on the District I've never seen water coming in from a saloon roof until refirb.

Like I said, they used to leak extremely badly. The TMU did a roof and window resealing mod package between 1992-1993. Then they also did resealing of the traction equipment cases. Before this mod the outside pane of the casement windows was held in by putty, this was then changed to clips glue and a fancy rubber strip. At the time we were meggering door circuits and drying out cable ends like they were going out of fashion, because all of the cable trays under the floor were so wet.
