It's not to do with the number of platforms. Think about how the stations fit into their surroundings.

Something to do with whether you climb up or down (or level) to street? Wimbledon is a climb up, no idea about the others. Does this makes Winbledon the odd one out?

Nope, it isn't to do with elevation. IIRC Cockfosters and Upminster are climb up to exit as well. I can't remember about Stanmore.

Upminster is odd one out... all others terminate in buffer stops at their respective stations.

At all except Upminster, station building/entrance is beyond the tube platforms, Upminster is the other way round.

Or to put it another way; Upminster's platforms have an entrance/exit at both ends, whereas all the others don't.
