I often wonder why the LT museum was sited at Covent Garden when it could have been in a more convenient location. The location I refer to is South Kensington. On a raft over the Station and openings.
Why? Because it would be in "Museum Land) It could be of more than two floors. It would be larger than the present site. It would have both road and rail access. It would be relatively easy to get to from both West End and City.
If as I once said they made the northernmost tunnel between South Ken and Gloucester road the running tunnel for all traffic then the southern one could be used to access the museum with a lift installed at S Ken to get rail vehicles up to it. Also part of the southern tunnel could also be used for storage too. Having two tunnels with only one track in is a bloody waste of infrastructure. The argument that it would cause problems is a bit weak as the flat junction at GR already does and Circles are timetabled to pass over it simultaneously anyway. Even if they are not, putting the machine in "first come, first served" does not cause undue delay
They would make the money to pay for it from the entrance fee and catering and suchlike.
Just an idea
