HW2000 have a better history and were originally a GEC design before Alsthom were even thought of, but then HW1000 were a good design before that but not AC immune. Now there is a thought..............

I am wracking my brain! These are the ones that I can remember that were there: OLYMPIA BRANCH-WLL EALING BDY CENTRAL-WR MAIN LINE (SLOW LINES) PADDINGTON SUBURBAN NEW CROSS NEW CROSS GATE SHOREDITCH BROMLEY BY BOW BARKING? UPMINSTER? RICHMOND- WINDSOR LINES WIMBLEDON NORTH JUNCTION (I think it's called, still there...and used by SWT) WEST RUISLIP PARK JUNCTION DRAYTON PARK LOUGHTON-LOUGHTON LT JUNCTION NEWBURY PARK QUEENS PARK WATFORD JUNCTION DC-MAIN (still there) HARROW ON THE HILL MANTLES WOOD JUNCTION NORTHUMBERLAND PARK GUNNERSBURY JUNCTION (AND NORTH CURVE FROM BOLLO LANE DIRECTION) TURNHAM GREEN (under WB flyover) HAMMERSMITH FARRINGDON CWL-INNER CIRCLE WILLESDEN JUNCTION LOW LEVEL- NLL loop WILLESDEN JUNCTION LL - WILLESDEN DEPOT That's all I can recall now. Travelling on the Circle from King's Cross to Liverpool Street this evening, a lightbulb suddenly came on as we arrived and I looked out to the left Liverpool Street Metropolitan Railway to the mainline GER station, platforms 1 and 2. I remember the course of this connection was still visible at the mainline end until the late 1980s when the station was redeveloped. I'm sure there are others we've forgotten as well - will have a good think and try to draw up a complete list!

That's a new on one me and I can't recall ever hearing about it.
Of course there was a connection at Barking! I certain that there was one at Upminster but would not like to state so without proof.
Trying to recall the line diagrams wasn't there also the triangular junction with the line to Woodgrange Park? Was there access from the southern LTS lines to Little Ilford car sheds? Also on the Central between the CLR and the GWR/CCR joint?

Also on the Central between the CLR and the GWR/CCR joint? Liverpool Street - only in use from 1875 for a couple of years I think. I'll try and dig out Doug Rose's Diagrammatic History which will confirm. As you arrive Liverpool Street on the outer rail look to the left and you'll see the tunnel curving off. It was double track, ran under the cab road on the west side of Liverpool Street and connected end on with platform 1 and 2 lines in the GER station. EDIT: From the horse's mouth so to speak www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/897.aspx#history - connection lasted longer than I thought. I think you're right about Upminster - given the way the lines evolved jointly between the LTS and District there must have been a connection here. Probably removed 1960-ish when the LTS was segregated for electrification. I'm sure you're also right about the East Ham/Little Ilford connection, most likely taken out at the same time. Browsing an excellent website ;D www.trainweb.org/tubeprune/Woodlane%20whitecity.htm#Wood%20Lane%20Depot confirms that the Central London Railway depot at Wood Lane had a 'back-door' connection to the West London Railway. This would be in addition to the later connections via the Ealing & Shepherd's Bush railway. I really should go to bed, but this connections hunt is getting interesting!

The 'connections' queries have driven me (mad) for 30 years or so! I have no idea why but there you are! Baaaa! Baaaaa! [Aping Blackadder 4).
I shalll check Brian Hardy's article on Wood Lane Depot in UndergrounD 5 to see if he mentions it. I think that the Upminster connection was with the Romford line, which also somehow connected with the main? I can't find Mr Harsig's track map for the east end: has someone got the link please?
