On the approach to Baker St NB platform, as the train is braking, the running tunnel seems to open out on the left hand side, and it looks as though there is a large pipe adjacent to the train.
Does anyone know what this is?

That's what I thought but didn't want to say so as I thought 'large pipe' meant something like a water/air conduit!

I thought the Bakerloo connection was north of the platform Whoops.... I'm on the wrong line. Was thinking of the Bakerloo junction to Stanmore/Queens Pk

I thought the Bakerloo connection was north of the platform Whoops.... I'm on the wrong line. Was thinking of the Bakerloo junction to Stanmore/Queens Pk Quite correct the junction in the n/b Bakerloo is after leaving Baker Street. Facing points branching left to pass over the n/b Bakerloo and merge from the left into the n/b Jubilee, also after leaving Baker Street on that line. So the question remains what is this pipe?

Presumably the link to the Bakerloo?? Sorry - my original post could have been clearer. I know what the Bakerloo link looks like, and this is not it. The running tunnel seems to have a space of perhaps a metre to the left of the train, and there is something like a pipe below window level. The colour isn't apparent because of the costing of dust.

Unfortunately your post is still not clear! From memory of the area my recollection is that at the Jub&B'Loo IMR end of the platforms there is an access shaft and passageways from each of the four running tunnels (i.e. Bakerloo & Jubilee) which are the main cable routes to the IMR. At the opposite end of the platforms is the main shaft to the substation which is adjacent to the Met NB roads upstairs. Actually there are quite a few shafts in that area, the ventilation shafts being in the centre of the platforms behind grills and the disused lift shafts which house the old telephone exchange and cable routes to the Met line lower circulating area and the 'cathedral' beneath the Met platforms where the Met IMR is located. Also at the back of the JUb & B'loo IMR is the area housing the location cases and track circuit relays etc which is literally a bolthole from the track. I last worked there doing point maintenance at the Jub/B'loo junctions Jub ends about five years go and I certainly can't recall any large pipes at trackside. However, it is not unknown for such temporary pipework or perhaps ducting to be rigged for the duration of a particular job such as for instance sand blasting or perhaps rail grinding where there may be a need for forced air injection or extraction etc. I can only speculate as to what you may be seeing.

Isn't the pipe access to Danger Mouse's secret layer?

I would tend to agree that it's one of the cable routes to and from the IMR.
From memory, there is a ladder at the end of the cable tunnel behind the IMR which leads to cross passages to both the NB Bakerloo and Jubilee Lines south of the station.

Can the link to the Bakerloo be seen from the platform?

There is as far as I know a cable run that runs through a 3-4' wide pipe into the old lift shaft area in that area of the staion. There are a few that appear in the station plans, they go from the drop shafts, in the upper circulating area, to a lower cable run area, then into the tunnel.
Ill have another look on the station Plans and see if i can figure it out.
