The second day of the month, and with it, the second two part question of the month. Today, a bonus point for working out why this location was chosen for today. Part one below, with part two to follow at some point later today, maybe 6pm-ish. *Click for a larger version*

2 September 1666 was the day the great fire started, to which the Monument is a monument.

Started by an escaped burning ember I think in the King's bakers, very near the site of the Monument monument. Ironic, because it was Charles II that subsequently ordered the rebuilding of the city. Advantageous because London was in the grip of a plague epidemic and the Great Fire killed off the rats whose fleas carried the plague virus.

Well done to john3ners who was first in via PM yesterday morning, and to all who identified Monument. Chosen because The Great fire of London started 2nd September 1666. The station is named after the monument to the fire. Also well done for spotting Kennet and Avon Canal and Great Western Main Line, Bath. *Click for a larger version*

It's a lovely area just off the A36 heading north where it meets the canal onwards.

Never seen it from the top of the wall. Used to drive along the line two or three times a week on the Hallen Marsh gas trains so I presume its a little way east of Sydney Gardens. Nice angle.
