hi anyone know what exactly has happened at baker street circle line and h&c been suspended all morning and still is at 5pm tonight thank god i ain't working today would have been a nightmare at my station

According to teh TFL website, it is due to flooding on the track, although it was saying due to signalling problems earlier.
Would seem interesting as there hasnt been much rain, but I am sure others will have more information.

presumably this is just west of the station as the H&C are apparently reversing west to east at Baker Street, which is presumably what is causing the minor delays to the Met service?

Yes The H&C was reversing in plat 2 but these have come off for the evening peak to allow a through Met Main service. c2000 there should be a Whitechapel-Kings Cross C Stock shuttle so get out there photographers to record a rare destination.

there has been an ongoing water problem on the circle platforms at baker street for some time now aint there i remember when i worked at westmisnter amount of times those platforms got closed due to flooding was unreal

There will be no Circle, no H&C Edgware Rd-Barking, and no Met past Baker Street after 2000hrs.

It took Thames Water 6 days to identify the correct water main which closed Baker Street Platform 6 over Christmas last year.

I came through Kings Cross at about 19.05, and Digital Dylan was still going on about no H&C to Hammersmith. Spotted a pic of the burst water main in one of the evening papers discarded on a Piccawiggly service. Must have been about 12 inches deep!

Earlier they were running a Whitechapel to Baker Street platform 2 service (more awkard than it sounds).
I hear that it was a storm sewer overflowing casued by the burst main?

It looks like a part suspension today again, although this time it's a "faulty track" at Aldgate East causing an H&C suspension from Plaistow to Barking. Don't know what the plan is there!

Yesterday, a burst water main compounded by blocked / leaking drainage (at one point, the water being pumped from track level, out to the street and down a drain, was ending up back where it started ;D )
Rumour has it that around 3 million gallons of water passed through the area just west of Baker Street platforms 5 and 6.
The Barking-Baker Street shuttle was taken off to allow the booked (4-minute) Met peak service to run without anything getting in its way. The King's Cross-Whitechapel service was run to allow an additional area of drainage to be worked on at Baker Street.
Today, although I wasn't at work at the time, the above mentioned suspension was probably related to a set of points that required attention at Aldgate East - a temporary speed restriction was put in force just prior to me leaving this morning. The TSR was quite low, and so more than likely resulted in the reduced / suspended service through the area.

The plan was that all trains scheduled to reverse at Plaistow did so at Moorgate, while those scheduled to reverse at Barking did so at Plaistow. This had the twin effects of thinning out the service through Aldgate East and dealing with the late running of those services that did pass through the affected area. The upshot of this was the effective suspension of H&C services between Plaistow and Barking.

BBC Radio Solent mentioned at at 5.30 this morning that there was a signal failure at Edgware Road, causing delays on the H&C and Circle, but I don't think they mentioned the Womblewares.

Was a problem at Edgware Road with the starter on platform one. Half the District line continued to Edgware Road and the other half was diverted to Mansion House.

There are a limited number of other activities that could be done, such as teamtalks or P&Ds (Performance & Development Reviews) but only if the DMTs are available to do them.

I suppose in times of disruption like this, when you have half the drivers being bone idle, you could stick them in the rear cabs of every running train and cut down reversal time? Kinda like stepping back but you're only driving one direction all day. Keeps them off the streets...

We'd all be in rear cabs all over the line or doing whatever "other tasks" people see fit. Most of the delays caused around incidents such as these come afterwards with crews on short meal reliefs and being in the wrong place - ie not avaialble to pick up at a crew relief point or get to depot or sidings to bring one out. While people may not like the sound of us being "bone idle", it gets the job back up and running a lot quicker than if we werent. Ask any C&H driver; we're all sitting in that depot like the preverbial coiled spring...

I've got to say, the Circle can be cancelled more often!! I Was a max of 2 minutes late all day and that was because of a (far to frequent) PEA on a train ahead.
