Looks to be at 0° latitude by 0° longitude. Guess that will extend the journey times a tad then.

tee-hee! I wonder if that's the delay - they are still tugging it round Sierre Leone right now...

Talking to one of the drivers I was doing front end turns with the other week, they built one of the platforms too narrow so its being modified. There were a few contractors in Hi-Vi's there when we went through.

It seems Shepherds Bush LO station opened today (and with the 'proper' full-size roundel signs)

There's a few bits of "Silverlink" corporate ID left if you look carefully.

I cannot believe there are no shelters on either platform. Really good to be standing in the rain with your shopping waiting for the next train.

I noticed that and guess people will just huddle by the staircases

On the northbound side there's the problem of the narrow platform and the signal by the footbridge that needs to be visible. There's simply nowhere to put one, which is why there are seats under the footbridge (assuming they're still there).
The southbound side was built with a shelter incorporated into the foot of the footbridge. The way out was through the side wall onto a narrow part of the platform. During the rebuilding work they moved the entrance around to where it is now onto the wide part of the platform, and the area is no longer usable as a shelter, and has had its seats removed.

I must say I absolutely agree with the comments about the lack of shelter available on the platforms. I understand the concerns about the visibility of signals but nonetheless I can't help but think that a suitable arrangement to provide canopies above the platforms could have been found.
One could say that it's all the more bemusing when one considers that the station was built by Westfield, the developer (and owner) of the new mega-shopping centre - you'd think that the comfort of potential shoppers would be at the forefront of their minds. Though of course in reality it seems that scant consideration was given by them to how the station would actually be used, as evidenced in the narrow platforms debacle.
One can't but help be left with the impression that Westfield were told they had to build a new station on the WLL and they did so grudgingly - which is stupid considering the potential custom they will get from the line.

Having worked on the two LU projects caused by the Westfield development, I can only agree. In my experience if they had to do anything that involved spending more than the minimum of money on something other than their shopping centre they did so extremely grudgingly.

My guess is that they're trying to appeal to the car-driving demographic so that they can make pots of money from the Car Park.
Shopping centre owners don't like browsers who turn up by public transport, fouling up their gleaming retail display with litter, spit and general muck, trolling around for an hour or so, and not actually buying anything. It's bad for business.
Whereas those who come by car can loiter as much as they like; they have, if you like, their 'platform ticket'.

Managed to use both Shepherd's Bushes yesterday since I was picking up a streetcar from nearby. Wanted to confirm times from SPB, so called National Rail TrainTracker. Obviously they've not had their update still It thought I wanted Shepherd's Well.

In these times of equality rules, how come there's never been a station called Shepherdess's Bush?!?!? ;D
Sorry - I thought I was a guest on the panel of QI for a moment there. I do apologise.

In these times of equality rules, how come there's never been a station called Shepherdess's Bush?!?!? ;D Because in these times of equality such terms are gender neutral unless a separate feminine form is needed to ensure clarity. An example being the use of 'actor' to refer to men and women except when it comes to awards where gender specific categories necessitate the use of gendered titles. And there is also the infamous Guardian obituary of movie producer Carlo Ponti who they claimed "had an eye for his actors" which gave entirely the wrong idea about the man who married Sophia Loren. Oops, it seems I became Stephen Fry for a moment!

Even so, I'm all in favour of towing Westfield out to sea and sinking it...

I love Westfield! I think the shops are great and they have a good selection of cafe's / restaurants. I would say not enough bars though. It will be great when the new cinema there opens in the summer

Is it true Temporary platform shelters are being installed at Shepherds Bush?
A member of staff said this should happen soon before the weather gets too bad.
