My first post, so here goes...
at about 15.10 yesterday, was on t72 w/b. Just left Notting Hill when T/Op coshes it and gets on the radio to control. Sitting right behind the cab bulkhead, I could make out him shouting Mayday over and over again. I presume he couldnt get a reply, so pulls into High St Ken. Another train is stalled partly out of platform going east.
Eventually get into Earls Court, and get the refurbed unit DM7012 on t151 to Olympia, must of been at about 15.20. I thinks why not have a butchers at it, and I had me camera, so's, theres a group of five fellow staff waiting at the end of the platform, deep in conversation. I gets on the refurb and off we go to Olympia. As we all know, theres only one platform at Olympia, so we sat outside at signal WB5b for 25 minutes, it was after about 10 minutes that the Op told us over the PA system that there was a power supply problem at High St Ken, and that the train would be held here until the backlog of trains at Earls Ct had cleared. With that, he duly popped the j door and offered the cab for those feeling the heat, and kept us entertained with a joke or two, all the while *trying* to get through on the radio. At about 16.00 the train that was in the platform passed by [with t/op looking decidedly annoyed], and we pulled in. There, we waited until 16.40. Shortly after our arrival in the station, a film crew turned up, and began taking pictures of the train, interior, exterior, and even the saloon illuminated displays, window corners, and the grab poles.
Eventually we left olympia and with film crew on board, got back into Earls Court. Whoever the T/Op was, deserves a commendation for his efforts in keeping us informed and entertained...
