Some years ago a model railway appeared in the railway press that had as part of its stock an 'OO'scale model of a 1960 four car set (complete with two standard stock trailers, presumably from the Harrow models range as it would have been at that time). Does anyone have any idea if 1960 Cravens DMs are available in 'OO' scale? If not, is it possible to construct a half decent model based on the cardboard kits available from Metro Models?

Metro models do not make card board kits but street level models do! I am thinking of making a 1960 DM however!!!

I think the layout you refer to is Epton by Dick Yeo. There are a couple of pictures in Railway Modelling by Norman Simmons. ISTR that the DM's where scratchbuilt.

Sorry, not Epton, I have the article in front of me.
Modelled were a Standard Stock train and the 1935 flat front prototype (scratchbuilt). At the time, the only models/kits available was historical stuff like the Ever-Ready set! At the end the article says " Future plans include building more tube stock, some of which is already under construction". So, perhaps 1960 stock emerged later, who can tell.
This must be a classic 'where are they now' layout. A beacon amongst the gloom of endless GWR country-terminus-to-fiddle-yard layouts. By coincidence, that same issue had another nice layout: a representation of Holborn with 1959 and 1973 stock, also scratchbuilt. Don't know how many years it was before RM went Underground again.
