I once heard that the Victoria line was built with a full air-cooling system for the tunnels and stations - but that this has never been used. Does anyone know if there's any truth in this and, if so, why it's never been used?

I think its more a case of the new trains have built in air cooling and someones mis-hearded this.

Also there was a trial ground-water cooling project at Victoria station, not sure if this is still ongoing.

There was just the conventional shafts and fans - and under a current program of works, the fans are being replaced with more powerful units to increase air flow.
The Victoria Station ground water cooling project is working fine - and will be expanded considerably in the forthcoming works there.
