What is going on - there have been so many signal failures in this area recently. And they seem to last for ages. Last Friday afternoon, there was an hour gap in the service.
The Bakerloo always seems to get suspended in these cases. Can't they work through the area under failure conditions, or is it something to do with the fact that Network Rail won't allow it.

Dont know if i can answer you as to the reason why there are so many Signaling problems, or why large gaps of an hour or more take place. However i can explain the reason why the Bakerloo gets the chop, When there is a signaling problems the signals always fall back to the red danger aspect, allotted with this on the part of line where the Bakerloo line shares the service with London Overground, there is also tripcocks that are set to trip when signal is red. On tube trains the speed of the train is restricted to 5 or 10 mph for quite some distance, once the tripcock on the train has been reset. This does not apply to the trains on London Overground, the trains will past the signal at danger the trains tripcock will trip, the train will stop, the drivers reset it , and can continue at normal speed. So until the signaling problem is repaired it is easier to maintain a service without the bakerloo line.
Hope this helps in some way.

Thanks for that. I take your point about it being easier to maintain a a service - but like you, I couldn't see how one signal could totally destroy a service with a 20 minute headway.
I got to Queens Park at about 16:35, and was intending to go to Willesden, then Stratford. Wasn't in a rush, so I hung around for a bit. The last Watford train had left at 16:27, and the next two were cancelled. In the meantime, there was a procession of Bakerloo trains reversing.
Perhaps they should let the Bakerloo try to maintain the service, at least to Harrow . . .

Just a further thought - I assume that trains going to Stonebridge Park depot would be allowed to run through?

A couple of minor corrections: Two signals failed today, WS24 and WS22. So Bakerloo trains had to go through two sections at 5mph which takes forever. And because of the layout at Willesden Junction, some of them may have rear-tripped also. Gaining permission to pass two signals, front-tripping and proceeding at 5mph twice and then rear-tripping and having to run to the back to reset twice all adds up. Frankly it's not worth the bother. Bakerloo trains *did* run today on the Surface section from about 4pm. But it took so long to get them through that eventually NR told us to stop and just let the LOROL trains do it all. And while LOROL trains don't have any speed-control they are required to travel at caution after passing a danger signal. Specifically "a speed at which they can stop short of any obstruction" which is not quite as fast as line-speed. Finally, today's problems wouldn't have made any difference to trains going *to* Stonebridge Park depot but there would have been problems coming back. Hope that helps!

Bakerloo was suspended north of Queens Park until about 13:30, due to signal failure at Willesden Junction.

Afraid there was problems once again and the Bakerloo line was suspended, ticket acceptance on LO until the problem was sorted. I was at meeting when it happened. I think LO and LU will not be impressed that their services or being disrupted on a now regular basis. Not sure where the prob was today, but no Bakerloo Queens Park-Harrow.
Perhaps another reason why privitisation doesnt work.
In response to Gappe, your right about our 313s and the cautionary speed of trains. I should have made it a bit more clear as to what hapens.
