Is there a problem with the track / points going into the bay road at Plaistow? The train shudders and vibrates like mad! It's been like this ever since I can remember.

Thats exactly it. Plaistow bay seems worse than Dagenham East for this.

Has Plaistow ever been a regular reversing point for the District?

Has Plaistow ever been a regular reversing point for the District? I can remember District trains reversing there in the peaks on a fairly regular basis. This was when the H&C ran 7-8 minute service to Barking, rather than today's arrangement where alternate trains reverse at Plaistow.

The approach to the points at Plaistow is not quite straight like Dagenham East (and if i remember has a slower speed limit) the trains do give a lively ride over those points as the direction of the train changes slightly causing the wheel flanges to make contact with the track sides. (What are the zig zag things ? Do you mean the metal zig zags bonded to the running rails, these are in rusty sidings and made of metals not subject to oxidation to ensure a train's presence in a track section is detected when the rails themselves have a rusty surface which is non-conductive for electrictity ! Appologies if thats not the zig zag, but is a useful tit bit anyway !! )

The speed limit going into both bay roads is 10mph. For trains going through eastbound it is 35 at plaistow, 40 at Dagenham East.
