Do LUL stil have any Pilot units? I seem to recall there was one at least at Ruislip Depot which was a 62ts, is it still there?

Would seem nobody knows about any Pilot units!!! How about any of the other redundant 62ts? I know several units (about 9 I think) were kept back by LUL, what happened to them? 2 Sandites, 2 Pilots and a TRT I think, but am sure there are some silver train experts that can help me!!!

Far as I know there's the sandite train at Hainault and I think a couple of pilot cars at Ruislip which were used for moving 92TS around when new.

Weren't the pilot cars used to move 95/6 stock on delivery as well?
If the 09ts does fit on the Piccadily, on delivery would pilot cars be found from the 67ts fleet or would they use these pilot motors?

Yes,they were used to move 95/96TS as well, but now if a 96TS has to go off line it's done as two seperate units between battery locos with Schoma diesels acting as match wagons.

Somewhat surprising they have hung on to the Pilot trains then really. Don't want to go giving them ideas you understand, but I would have thought if they weren't needed they would have been cut up! I'm not suggesting it as I believe that one or two coaches still have an original interior!! Although obviously some of the coaches have a load of computers and other wizardry to get the units to talk to each other! Shame only the Acton Sandite is photographable really, I miss the old silver trains!!
