Hi all, I was on the way from Kings Cross to Victoria and the 'next station' and 'this is' announcements seemed to be quite different to how they usually are. Is it me or are they different because I am just confused... Thanks, Uzair

Can you give us a bit more detail, i.e. as much of the announcements as you can remember?

Okay well they seemed to be slightly slower and they just did not sound like Emma Clarke. Only the 'This is a Victoria Line train to Brixton' announcement sounded like Emma Clarke

Hi.
I was on the Victoria Line today; all announcements were as normal.
I have the latest Kings Cross St. Pancras recorded as a sound file if you're interested; that way you can tell me if this is the one you heard.
It should read: "This is Kings Cross St. Pancras. Change here for the Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern and Piccadilly Lines and National and International Rail services. Exit here, for the British Library. This is a Victoria Line train to Brixton. Stand Clear of the Closing Doors.

Yesterday, coming into Green Park northbound there was an automated announcement on the train PA to "let customers off the train first". This played as we were decelerating in the platform and finished about 5-10 seconds before we came to a complete stop and the doors opened.
What is the point is making this announcement on the train? A person on the platform would not be able to hear it - especially as there was an announcement being made over the platform PA at the same time (although I don't know what)

I was on a Victoria Line train a few days ago and before coming in to Highbury, an announcement said "The next station, is Highbry & Islington. Change here for the Piccadilly Line and National Rail services. This station has step free acces"
Step free access announcement!

That announcement isn't unusual, nor is the request to take your litter with you when you alight at Euston (at least southbound, I can't remember about northbound)

(Neither Finsbury Park nor Highbury and Islington have step free access)

The step free access announcement is for Tottenham Hale, although I believe it was also playing when there wasn't step free access when the lift broke down recently.

Yesterday, coming into Green Park northbound there was an automated announcement on the train PA to "let customers off the train first". This one is not fully automated as it requires a button press from the driver. He/she was probably a bit ham-fisted and meant to press something else, or nothing at all.

Subway Rail, they also do that with "Please keep your luggage with you at all times" when approaching stations.
ChrisM, Yep litter works both north bound and south bound for Both Euston and Oxford Circus. Luckily the latter can NEVER be heard (even with the additional speakers) due to the noisy tunnels.

I was on a District Line train at Putney Bridge like 3 days ago. We were there for a few minutes and an announcement came up saying: 'Laides and Gentlemen, we are being held at a red signal and we should be moving shortly' Only heard that once before!

The District Line driver I was fortunate enough to have a cab ride with a couple of months back played that announcement while we were waiting for a platform at Wimbledon.

You'll hear that one or one of its 2 relatives more frequently from now on.

I heard it again before coming in to West Brompton on Friday. It should be made after being stationary for 30 seconds.

Hey all
I have information on the new 2009tubestock CIS system for those interested. I'm not going to quote the whole E-Mail I receieved from TFL for obvious reasons but one thing they told me was that there will be up to date travel information avalible on board trains.
"The system will also be of an intelligent nature and will only display such messages to trains that are carrying customers towards the area affected by any disruption. For example, should a situation occur on either the Central or Bakerloo lines in the central area only trains approaching Oxford Circus where there is an interchange will receive and display the information. Trains that are either north of Oxford Circus on the northbound route or south of Oxford Circus southbound will not display the information."
