Hi,
May I know where about are all the P-CRID devices installed after Green Park station on the Eastbound track toward Stratford. Perhaps a driver or an responsible engineer can help me/
I know for sure that Green Park, Westminster, Southwark and Canada Water station have them situated just beyond the stopping mark, but what about for other stations and where exactly along track are they situated?
Thanks.

What is a P-CRID?

A P-CRID is a permanent CRID [Current Rail Indicator device] which has "On" or "Off" displayed, in relation to the activation of traction current. They are beside the track at certain stations. Wasn't it Tubelines who introduced them?
Their installation negates the need for protection masters to go onto the track in engineering hours to ascertain if TC has been discharged, as has traditionally been the way, with the orange handheld one.
As to the locations of P CRID's on the JLE. I have no idea.....presumably at the start/end of a traction current section.

They were originally installed as a trial on the Piccadilly line (which was presumably successful?), and can be found at any point usually used to access the track. They are only intended for use by contractors (in the manner stated by Tubeboy) and as such, are to be ignored by operational LU staff (traditional methods of confirming the state of traction current apply to LU operational staff.......ie, line controller).
They actually have three possible indications; On, Off & Fault.

The ones I've seen in the surface happen to be in the cess at the section gap.
P-CRID is a Tubelines innovation and are installed on JNP lines. I've not seen them on the Tubelines maintained section of the Metropolitan but they are possibly there. The block type orange CRIDs haven't been around for long though.

I believe all staff are instructed to use the conventional CRID at the moment, including non LU staff. Read something about this last week.............
