Were there any plans, especially when the LPTB was formed in the '30s and considered rationalising all the sub-surface lines, to operate direct trains from Uxbridge to the New Crosses? I know about the through Uxbridge-Barking services started in 1939 but withdrawn in 1941.

My recollection from the papers I read years ago was that all options were considered. I remember a scheme for a Wimbledon to Uxbridge service via Barking and others doing a loop round the Circle.

There was a proposal in the 90s to divert the H&C from Barking to the East London line.

There was a proposal in the 90s to divert the H&C from Barking to the East London line. Who would have made up for the loss of H&C service to Barking? Would the District have had enhanced services from the west? I understand that A stock on the Met would not have been able to travel east of the City due to gauging issues.

As a guess, some of the Tower Hill services could have been extended.

But wouldn't the platforms have needed lengthening for H&C trains?
