A friend of mine is coming down from Hull to KX, at 0920 on Tuesday, and I'm going to buy her a travelcard, as that'd be the easiest ticket for me to buy, and we also don't have to watch what zones we go through etc. A couple of questions: 1) Is it actually possible to buy a peak Travelcard? - I remember I was at Victoria station, and had to wait until 1000 for an all zones option to be available? (I could be wrong with that though - it was some time ago). 2) The TfL site, in all it's information-ey goodness, has neglected to put prices for travelcards etc, on there (I suppose with their push being that everyone should use Oyster ) - The nearest page I could find to anything useful, was this: click. Does anyone know how much an all zones peak TC would cost, roughly? (*looks in Tubeboy's direction *)

An all zone peak one day travelcard (zones 1-9) costs £15.00 A peak one day travelcard (zones 1-6) costs £13.80 A peak one day travelcard (zones 1-2) costs £6.80 However off peak starts at 0930 on weekdays, so if your friend can wait a few minutes: An all zone off peak one day travelcard (zones 1-9) costs £8.20 An off peak one day travelcard (zones 1-6) costs £7.00 An off peak one day travelcard (zones 1-2) costs £5.30 You can buy an off peak travelcard for Tuesday in advance from a ticket office (if you don't mind queueing )

Railcard discounts are also available... Which may give your friend a saving...
I have considered purchasing a second oyster PAYG as a back up for myself and to lend to friends I meet in London... If she's likely to make a return visit anytime soon it might make sense for her to have her own oyster prepay.

Hi Joe! Off peak is post 0930 M-F. I agree with the prices above. I dont know where this 1000 time thing comes from! If I were you I would wait till 0930, and then use an off peak Z1-6 [£7.00]. Also if they have a railcard [Young persons, Network etc] they can get a Z1-6 [off peak] for £4.80. Just to re-iterate others, day travelcards can be purchased up to 7 days in advance.

The 1000 thing may have come from if you were trying to use a railcard.

They've got an NR ticket obviously, but not a travelcard AFAIK.
