Many members (& forum guests) will be aware of the 3-car COP stock set at the Buckinghamshire Railway in Quainton. Over the past few of years I've heard many comments voiced as to its condition and have got in touch with Buckinghamshire Railway to find out their intentions as regards the set.
When I last visited Quainton back in June 2005, all 3 cars were in the open and consequently at the mercy of the elements (photos on my Fotopic site cjw.fpic.co.uk/c1312676.html).
I've received the following regarding the COP unit as well as other former LU rolling stock:
In the e-mail I also received an attachment written by the Underground Railway Rolling Stock Trust (URRST) with regard to the COP unit explaining their aims:
I'm hoping to pop over to Quainton one Sunday in August to get more info and perhaps some photos

PRESERVATION OF A 3-CAR CO/CP STOCK TRAIN
A BRIEF HISTORY
"O" Stock trains first began to appear on London Transport's Railway system in 1937. they were closely followed by the "P" Stock in 1938, both stocks being introduced onto the Metropolitan Line. The trains were re-classified as types "CO" & "CP" respectively between 1962 and 1965 when it became necessary to completely replace their control equipment’s due to increasing unreliability.
By 1971 the "CO" & "CP" stock trains had all been transferred to the District Line where they remained. The last of these trains were withdrawn from service in March 1981.
THE AIMS OF THE TRUST
The Trust intends to preserve a Three Car unit of CO/CP stock, consisting of CP stock driving motor 54233 (Originally "P" Stock car 14233), owned by the Quainton Railway Society, COP stock trailer car 013063 (Originally "O" stock), and "CO" stock driving motor car 53028 (Originally "O" stock car 13028). The unit will be restored to early "fifties" condition and it is intended to operate it under its own power.
When the unit is completed, people will have the opportunity to travel on an example of the old red underground trains which served London faithfully through the Second world war and for over Forty Years.
The wide doorways will be especially useful as they will enable wheel-chair bound passengers to board easily and travel in the passenger compartment rather than have to go in the baggage section as is often the case. This is especially important as nearby Stoke Mandeville is a major paraplegic centre.
PROGRESS TO DATE
All these Cars are now at Buckinghamshire Railway Centre where restoration is under way. The Trust also owns Flat Brake Van FB578 Now restored, 4 Wheel Flat Wagon F329, and Hopper Wagon HW418, in addition various items of London Transport signalling equipment have been obtained to form a working display.
