I'm vaguely surprised that no one has mentioned this, but RSDL are releasing the IOW railway (Island Line plus IOW Steam Railway) as an add-on for Rail Simulator, including 1938 stock in (at least) NSE and heritage LT red liveries: www.railsimulator.com/en/node/3639They have confirmed that the cab is post-IOW with mods such as lino floor instead of wooden slats; but if you can't drive from Kenn to Edgware you can at least trundle from Ryde to Shanklin! I've now bought it, and I it seems better than the other routes Rail Simulator have done (on Oxford - Paddington, the line that goes off to Heathrow isn't there - the overhead wires stop between stations with no junction, and some platforms at Paddington are missing). It can be difficult to pull away from a station smoothly, if you use a lot of power to start the train, it will suddenly start moving at 5mph when the brakes have released. Quick update on progress. Here's a little video i put together. You will have to ignore the sound because my tv capture card has developed a strange echo since XP service pack 3. I'm running wrong way back to ride peir just to demonstrate the cab shadow model with the sun infront of you. Shame the sun comes through in the tunnels though. Hi norfolkdave, Glad you like the vids. The speedo's were originally AVO voltmeter type gauges rather than the round one that is fitted at present to the preserved 38TS. That's another idea for another version of the cab, to make an original. Not to much work involved in that. I'm now working on the sounds for the 38 mainly trying to replicate the RPA controller and the line breakers cluncking in and popping out. Darren.

Just to let you all know, Richard has sent me his 485DM 3DC model for me to have a play with. I now have an almost fully working unit with it's own unique sound set. I can't quite figure out why I can open the doors but have to wait for them to close automatically as pressing 'T' has no effect. I downloaded FRAPS to give it a try so here's a 30 second blast with it. I'm quite impressed with it and think i shall purchase a liscence as it plays quite well. Listen for the RPA (Rotary Pneumatic Accelerator) switching out the motor resistances on acceleration and line breakers popping in and out when the throttle is moved to and from the off position. Lots more to do with the brakes yet but were getting there. vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=49027456I know it's a 485 but maybe once that's working i can attach the sounds to the 1938TS. Darren.
