Hey guys. Last year for my birthday I got an old LU map. It's from when the Met used to run to Great Missenden and the District used to go to Hounslow West. On the map it shows the District used to go from Acton Town to South Acton. I wanted to know if there is still a link between the two station. Or is it used by London Overground? Thanks Uzair

There's no longer a direct link between the two. South Acton is indeed used by London Overground, but that's a seperate line down to Gunnersbury. The District used to have it's own branch line to South Acton, which closed in 1959.
At Acton Town there is a disused fifth platform, partly visible from the west end of the eastbound local platform, north of the existing platforms. Also still visible are the bridge abutments where the line used to cross Bollo Lane.

The first photo on the page called up by that link is actually the Hammersmith (Bath Road) branch. This view of the track bed looking back toward the Kew - Willesden line of the N&SWJR. The building on the extreme left is the former LNWR built substation for the North London electrification and now has been converted into yuppie flats. Between the bill board and the substation is Acton Lane.

The first photo on the page called up by that link is actually the Hammersmith (Bath Road) branch. That would be the branch from South Acton to Hammersmith & Chiswick that closed to passengers during the First World War? Could be worth emailing the webmaster of the linked site!
