Are Wimblewares driven by District drivers or Circle/Hammersmith drivers? I ask this because it's part of the District, but if operated by Circle/Hammersmith drivers then the District drivers would only have to learn to drive one stock.

District Acton and Earl's Court operators. Though I understand that Barking and Upminster ones are meant to be trained for C Stock.

The last bit of what I wrote wasn't right! What I meant to say is, are they training the east end operators up on C stock still? (or has it been knocked on the head!)

(or has it been knocked on the head!) East end drivers do get C stock trained when they start on the line, because in the pool they can in theory be sent to work at any depot, although this rarely happens. Once they are rosrered they don't recieve any more C stock training.

East end instructor operators are also licensed to drive C stock. That's because I/Ops, like pool staff, are a line resource and can be asked to go anywhere.

Only west end drivers work C stock. So, it would be a west end driver that had problems stopping 5556 at Southfields a couple of weeks ago... I suppose Barking and Upminster drivers aren't trained for driving C stock because they aren't ever sent to Barking or Upminster on the District.

Firstly, I have no idea what you are referring to as a 'problem' with stopping 5556. Elaborate and we may be able to at least suggest what occured. No - it's because there are no rostered Wimbledon/Edgware Road duties for Barking or Upminster drivers. As has already been stated only those T/Ops outside the roster (the pool drivers) are both stock and route familiar fro that route and stock as (in theory) they could be sent to cover Earls Court or Acton Town duties. Again - as already stated - the east end I/O's are both C Stock and Edgware Road route current.

It came into Southfields, and there was a loud noise (I think this was the emergency brake), and it stopped before the front was at the end of the platform. A few seconds later, it moved up and the doors opened. I don't think it was someone on the track because the driver didn't use the whistle, and it moved again very soon after it stopped.

C stocks can be sent to Barking - in fact, anywhere on the District except beyond Barking, because they don't clear some of the platforms properly. It rarely happens though.

Aren't they sent to Upminster out of service? They must be able to clear the platforms.

What about Ealing Common drivers? Or is there no booking on/off there... There is no booking on point there. Train Ops book on at their home depot then travel there. No C Stock is booked to stable at Ealing Common to be offered for passenger service. C stocks can be sent to Barking - in fact, anywhere on the District except beyond Barking, because they don't clear some of the platforms properly. It rarely happens though. Only H&C and Circles stable at Barking. C Stock can now go past Barking to use the wheel lathe at Upminster. These are empty trains and crewed by Metronet (Test Train) Operators.

Sounds like a Westinghouse stop not gone quite to plan.
