According to the Oyster PAYG on National Rail map, Oyster Pay As You Go (PAYG) will be accepted on First Great Western trains between Paddington and Ealing Broadway / South Ruislip "by Spring 2008". Does anyone know a more precise date than this? Also, why will PAYG not be valid at Acton Mainline?

1. Probably as soon as they've put in the proper gatelines at Paddington. 2. No Oyster readers (I assume it isn't gated).

Also, why will PAYG not be valid at Acton Mainline? More likely because there isn't a comparable tube route (ie, you really need to have a tube station at both ends to consider a given route as having a comparable choice).

I was understanding that the whole of the Greenford Branch would accept PAYG in early 2008. I see no progress in installing readers at any station except of course GFD, EBY, and Padd. Also I fail to see how the system would know, when travelling from GFD to EBY how you came, train or tube.. so what will you be charged

The Greenford branch accepts PAYG but only between Greenford and Ealing Bdwy themselves.
