Hi all, I was on a website which has quite a lot of London Underground train announcements, e.g. where the train terminates, this station is.., next station etc. Anyway, on the Edgware Road to Wimbledon District Line announcement, I clicked on the arrow between HSK and Earl's Court (so it was the next station announcement) and it happened to be the old one on the C Stock which was : "The next station is Earl's Court. This is a District Line train, to Wimbledon. Change for the Piccadilly Line and District Line services to other destinations. Alight, for Earl's Court Exhibition Centres." Great! I havn't heard that announcement for many years now, so it brings back an old memory. Does anyone prefer the above one to the one now? When was this one taken off and replaced with the current one? Thanks Uzair

I think the new announcement came in about January/February of this year when they changed all the 'alights' to 'exits'. Unfortunately they didn't update it to include London Overground.

No way. I am sure the new announcements did not get replaced this year. It must have been a few years back

D'you mean the old voice - very disjointed. ''This is a. District line train to. Edgware Road.'' (etc) - the one heard on the first BVE C-Stock, or the change of wording between 'alight' and 'exit'? If you mean the latter - Jenks is correct I believe - around the early part of this year.

The old C stock DVA (VERA) is going back a few years though so I recon Uzair, you mean the recent change through Emma Clarke.

The old C stock DVA (VERA) is going back a few years though so I recon Uzair, you mean the recent change through Emma Clarke. Yup, VERA was replaced years ago. As boring-sounding and annoying as she was, I do miss a C stock where it only says half the stations, and it says "This train terminates at Edgware Road." Does VERA stand for VEry Rubbish Announcement?

It might be VERA as it was a few years back. I remember they used to be "This is a District Line train calling at all stations to Edgware Road"

Well then it is not VERA. It might have been Emma, but I am not referring to the change from alight to exit.

Hi Uzair,
The only way it could have been VERA was if it was pre-2001 - so yeah must be Emma and the Sound File Max posted is definately Emma.
