Hi all, sorry I haven't been on for a while - life just seems to be so hectic and now I have recently had a fire at home that has destroyed my garage and "office". Fortunately no injuries and all my photos and things that were in the office were rescued and survived...
Now,
This is something of a "plug", so I hope it doesn't contravene the rules of the forum. If it does, I apologise in advance to all concerned - though I don't stand to make anything extra from the "plug" as I will receive a small publication fee and larger sales will make no difference!
As a contributor to the book I was invited to the "launch" yesterday at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, where the authors were signing books and gave a presentation to the Friends of the London Transport Museum in the evening.
The book concerned is titled "Red Panniers - Last Steam on the Underground" and as such is a comprehensive history of the ex-GWR LT pannier tanks. It details the history of the engines, written by John Scott-Morgan, and also includes "behind the scenes" stories and reminiscences of working with the engines, written by Kirk Martin, who was one of the loco staff for a time. The book is not a "picture book" as such, but does include many photographs, much of them in colour and there are some real beauties! I can't claim that all the beauties are mine, but some forty of my shots appear in the book, some full page and the quality of printing is pretty high. Some of the pictures are from the camera of RC Riley, and I must confess that I never dreamed that any of my shots might appear in the same publication as some of Mr. Riley's!
The book is published by Lightmoor, in association with the London Transport Museum (hence yesterday's "do") and can be found at:
www.lightmoor.co.uk/bdl060.htm
Hope that might be of interest!
Cheers, Geoff
