Hi all
Apologies if this has already been requested/raised. Are there any links, examples or attachments of model time sheets/driver rosters?
Have an interest in rosters/schedules in the widest possible sense and have always been intrigued to see the formatting/style of a monthly or weekly time sheet for drivers. I understand that personal information cannot be shared but was wondering if there are any 'mock up' examples to show us how it looks across the space of a month.
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions or ideas that you may have.
Many thanks,
Basil. (Not my real name, but it beats Ruth Watson!) ;-)

Naturally all rosters are internal documents and do show (to a certain degree / with the aid of other information) where our staff will be on a given day - it is therefore not the policy of this forum to encourage posting of current rosters. That said, I did previously post a copy of a duty sheet from the East London line - as it's now closed, there's definitely no harm in reproducing it here: The rosters are simply lines with 7 spaces across (one for each day, obviously) and have a duty number in it - use of a sheet like that above details what the duty does. From that, the working timetable will show a driver all he needs to know..........thankfully though, there's usually a helpful colleague at each depot which will go to the trouble of working it all out and then produce a duty book which carries all the relevant info above. All rosters show weekly only - we don't do months at a time on on a single sheet As for time sheets - we no longer use those as such (well, the admin assistants do - and it's probably all computer based now). There are ways & means of recording overtime etc.........but it's not really relevant to most of the frontline staff and so you're not that likely to see a version of it shown here. If you really want to delve deeper, might I suggest eBay or transport exhibitions as a way of obtaining such material....

Dear Colin
This is fantastic. Thank you so much for your speedy reply. Didn't think of ebay! I'll go check! I really appreciate this. I especially love the attached sheet!
Take care, hotelinspector

Does the DR still have set working books and do tube lines still have running cards?

Would the first half of duty 010 (train 177) be a scheduled ECS to Neasden? If so, was this a daily move or just timetabled in so there was a slot available if required and if not required the driver would be a spare.
You can see stepping back at Shoreditch on there too. Thanks Colin

Thanks Colin That would be a Run As Required turn as indicated by the RR. Any Train Operator would then be spare if it did not run. The Analysis (what the DMTs) look might be interesting for you guys too. DOes COLIN have a copy??? Oh, and timesheets are done on computer using SAP now.

Another quick question...
Are the weekly schedules for T/Ops produced electronically and randomly, or are these put together by members of staff? Was just wondering whether or not staff are assigned to duty numbers electronically, at random, or by other means??

Every depot will have a roster, and drivers will go round the roster - their week number on the roster will show what duties they are allocated that week. Of course then there are mutual changeovers (where drivers swap shifts), changeover syndicates (aka mafias) where a large group of drivers (usually organised by one "mafia man") swap shifts so as far as possible everyone gets what they want. Then of course you have pool drivers (outside the roster) whose duties are allocated on a week-by-week basis to cover whatever needs covering.
It's a few years since I've been on the trains but I'm sure someone will correct me if I've made any glaring errors there!

DOes COLIN have a copy??? Not to hand, no - but I'm sure I could come up with something if you give me a few days (my flat is a right mess at the mo)

- Colin ... Yes! Anything (anonymous) to do with scheduling, timetabling, rosters, staff deployment/hierarchy, holiday leave, blah blah blah.... i would certainly be putting in a high bid for it Colin - if you were to put it on ebay! It's a personal interest more than anything else.

Does the DR still have set working books and do tube lines still have running cards? The District, Picc and C&H have set working books. No line has running cards any more.
