Interesting that on the TFL site, underground lines are shown as having a "good service" today!!! Is this because they are comfortablyoperating their planned service of zero trains per hour? Even LUL couldn't fail to achieve that! In all seriousness though, there may be someone who isn't aware of the Xmas day clousre who might look on the TFL site, see the words "good service" and then set off to his/her nearest tube station! Surely it should show "closed" instead?

Surprisingly enough, the absence of trains does not prevent things from going wrong

I've just tried to plan a journey on tfl.gov.uk... leaving my local station now, to Aldgate... shows a time of departing at 01.24, arrives at 07.22, with a journey time of 29:58... thats 29 hours on a combination of two buses, plus walking...
No thank you!

More than likely. But unfortunately photos like that give the 'artists' exactly what they want - attention.

And just what do you mean by that?
Probably be a lot quicker to walk all the way; not that I'd want to visit Aldgate on Christmas Day!
I think reply #7 is in the wrong section!

AOne of my best mates is on call today - I don't envy him! Nothing wrong with being on call on Christmas day, Boxing day or any other day! All those days disappeared in 1992/3 under devolution under the new LU holiday rules in the rewritten contract of employment. I worked several Christmas holidays at LU just as I did when I was a telephone engineer at the Post Office in the 1970s. Of course I understand why a family man would prefer the time off to be with his family. In the years when I had Christmas off I usually had two or three months on leave by bunching two years holidays and then Christmas week was one long party!
