Why suspend the anti-clockwise Circle? It doesn't go to Bromley by Bow!

They detrained an EB H&C and DR train simultaneously at Whitechapel - both packed. Now that the ELL staircases are blocked off there was absolute chaos as hundreds of people attempted to exit the station via the narrow overbridge. Meanwhile other unsuspecting passengers were attempting to reach the platforms and fighting against the flow. It must have taken 10 minutes for me to get out and god knows what would have happened if the evacuation had been for a smoke-related incident or someone running amok with a knife or gun. When I finally reached the exit (which was half closed and thus impeding us) the free paper sellers were still blocking the pavement with their wheeled trolley! It does make me wonder if that station is safe to operate following the loss of the alternative stairs to and from platform 5 and the ticket hall and I only wish now I'd taken some photos to forward to the GSM.

Why suspend the anti-clockwise Circle? It doesn't go to Bromley by Bow! Most likely congestion approaching Whitechapel on the EB, the Circles merely add to that problem. Or a shortage of Train Operators as those booking on/off at Barking can't get to Edgware Road.

All services are now operating again, with severe delays on the anti-clockwise Circle, the H&C and the District. Circle information last updated 5:29, District 5:43 and H&C 6:14.
