TfL have put up the latest map, Jan 08. dont know if it'll go back down again but it shows the ELL Bus replacement with a note about its rebuilding. Also includes the new zonal system. It does make Watford on the Overground look wrong with it out the zones, especially with Amersham in its own zone. Watford Met needs some tidying up as it doesn't need to be so far out on its own. www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/lon_con.pdf

I noticed several things (not only unique to this map, but also on past versions): - insinuates that Watford and Watford junction are 7 or 8 miles away from one another... having just looked at Streetmap.co.uk it seems more like 1km
- they've tried to bring Wimbledon (DL) & South Wimbledon (NL) closer together than I've seen in the past (or is that just the LU/LO map)
- the bus replacement ELL service does NOT cross the Thames - can understand that considering it would be trying to negotiate the Rotherhithe tunnel/car park & users can try to use the NL, JL or DLR as alternatives.... or swim
I still can't get over how long the former ELL will be closed for (over 2 years), but I suppose that Tfl and Infracos will be starting again rebuilding the stations & replacing the track/signaling etc.

Surely T5 should be on the map even if it won't be open in January!

They're ripping out all track and signals but on the track side I can't see the point. This leaves me with another question, why is LU staying infrastructure holder when its isn't even LU's standard. Does this mean the workers are going to be taught 3rd rail as well as LUL's 4th? Why not just hand over it to NR if its there standards? Why is there a need for FOUR bus services rather than two? Have a Shoreditch (in the times it used to run) to Wapping and Rotherhithe to New Cross/New Cross Gate? I don't understand the need with Watford, look at the zonal Tube map it doesn't stick out that much but for some reason they've felt the need make it look bad. Why isn't the Overground work show on there as under construction (same with T5) as both the JLE and DLR Woolwich (Sept 06 map shows it and its THREE years away from being open!) have been show on maps years in advance with under construction on them? I bet theres a few people who are going to be surprised how quick T5 was built with regards to it on the Tube map. Oh well wait till the Tube map is updated with the ELLBR (Bus replacement) which really makes it look a mess. EDIT> Just a side note, TfL are looking at ways to redo the map and keep it simple. I've heard they're open to new suggestions from joe public.

As an aside, the 2nd January 2008 fares list should be available from stations now. Either that or Wood Green have been jumping the gun because their leaflet rack had 'em in!

I highly doubt that any control centre would be staffed by LUL employees.

The Hampstead Heath move had been announced. Willesden Junction has also moved from zone 3 to 2/3, Acton Central from 2 to 3. So now everything west of WJ on the NLL is zone 3, everything east, except for Stratford, is zone 2.

I picked up a copy of the January 2008 edition of the paper map today. There is at least one error on it that I've spotted - Notting Hill Gate station is missing its interchange circle!

I don't give monkeys, but all those poor Amersham passengers want to know where they stand-or is that were they sit? (for now anyway!)
