It's a two part question today, part one being below, and part two to follow later. You may or may not spot something not strictly relevent to the actual location, so a bonus point for identifying this, and why the actual location for today was chosen. *Click for larger version* Meantime have fun at the meet everyone, sorry I can't be there in person due to some up with my ticket..... And the pathetic new rules at work regarding hours.......

Hyde Park Corner, east end of westbound platform for the phone & sign. No idea on the main picture!

Definitely not HPC! Particularly not east end of westbound which has a Siding T/T panel and TAS panel and a platform which is not short! Gloucester Road DR may be a possibility but I can't recall those accoustic hoods there as under the station mod of a few years ago the phones were built into cubby holes to give clean lines to the panelling.

Main picture: not Ronda in Spain, is it?

A wild guess: is the bridge in Serbia, given what's on BBC1 at 8 o'clock?

You are 100% and I am gobsmacked but I should've known that things had been left out of the picture! To be honest the accoustic hood was neither here nor there in my thinking, I had forgotten it existed at HPC. What threw me was the sign which I can't ever recall noticing at HPC when I was maintaining the Siding T/T and other equipment. But again the relationship between the sign and the hood has been deliberately doctored ! There is no real need for that sign as the platform is wide enough at that point but I can see why it is there, with the platform exit to the escalators being just to the left of the accoustic hood! I don't think it will be long before I quit doing the quiz , I think one needs to be a daily traveller to have a clue now and it's almost three years since my last usage of the Underground and I doubt I will ever see it again except in pictures!

No, don't give up! I rarely use the system, yet still amuse myself every month when I get the list of locations. Mostly I am wrong, but I still enjoy the challenge. No-one will think any the worse because you are not immediately aware of the place in question! Meanwhile, both locations have been identified, although the reason for the main location today still remains unanswered. Hyde Park Corner. Background: Moorish Bridge, Ronda, near Malaga, Spain. *Click for larger version*

Not sure why Ronda should feature - can you give us a clue? It's the reason for using Hyde Park Corner that we are looking for.....

The last train ran from Down Street on 21st May 1932 - is it somehow connected with that? Date of opening of the siding at HPC?

Eurovision?
edit: the Methodists celebrate it as Aldersgate Day. Perhaps it should be renamed to Barbican Day?

Eurovision? edit: the Methodists celebrate it as Aldersgate Day. Perhaps it should be renamed to Barbican Day? Eurovision takes the prize! My answer sheet says: Bonus Answer: Eurovision song contest being held in Belgrade today, HPC is closest station to Serbian embassy
