When the line to Amersham was finally electrified, did this have any effect on the Green Line coach services to Amersham? I know that the 703 disappeared from maps some time in the latter half of that decade. Also I noticed on a 1964 collectors map I recently bought from Mike Harris' website that a 709 coach went as far as Amersham (I guess this also disappeared in the mid-late 60s, as a "new" 709 sprung up connecting Baker St with Godstone; ironically this was the latest Green Line route to retain Routemaster coaches on a regular basis after London Country was formed). Finally the 710 in 1970/1 was curtailed only to operate between Amersham and Uxbridge after many years of service to Baker St and even all the way to Crawley.

It might have been the 321 from Luton to Watford, with some journeys on to Ricky.

The 321 used to be Luton-Watford-Uxbridge, now it is Luton-Watford, with some services (usually in the evening) to Rickmansworth Berry Lane Estate.

I read in an early London Bus Magazine that the Amersham electrification definately had an adverse effect on NW area Green Line loadings, hastening their demise. Similarly the BR Shenfield electrification in 1949 was blamed for the dramatic reduction of passengers on the 721 and 722.

The 321 used to be Luton-Watford-Uxbridge, now it is Luton-Watford, with some services (usually in the evening) to Rickmansworth Berry Lane Estate. 1) I guess it is now operated by Arriva. 2) At times I recall it operated all the way between Uxbridge and Luton. Other times it was operated in two sections: Uxbridge-St Albans/Harpenden, and Maple Lane Estates outside of Ricky to Luton.

Yes. The 321 is now operated by Arriva, from Garston garage. They normally use Plaxton/DAF single deckers in a special livery.

I remember when the 321 used Atlanteans (AN).

Does Arriva currently offer a service covering the old 321 section between Watford and Uxbridge?

Does Arriva currently offer a service covering the old 321 section between Watford and Uxbridge? Arriva runs Greenline route 724, the last of the old Greenline routes (it's limited stop, not express down a motorway), but they don't run a normal bus service to Uxbridge. The 5 and 6 go between Watford and Rickmansworth.

Crikey ........ Green Lines. That takes me back. My grandfather was a conductor on the 704 / 705 routes from Tunbridge Wells / Sevenoaks to Windsor via Bromley, Elephant, Victoria and Heathrow. Imagine that as a route these days. It'd take all day!

I used to take the 704/705 to Biggin Hill if I could when there was a Battle of Britain Day air display, though usually we had to go by tube to Victoria then catch a RT Relief to Biggin (Country Area RT). Occasionally I would get a coach back from Victoria to The Traveller's Friend, at Henlys Corner (A30/A4 junction) at Hounslow West. The 705s at one time had the ill-fated RC AEC Reliances, but fondest memories are of the RCLs, with occasional RMCs on Releif duties ex-Windsor, and RFs. And it took all day to get to just Biggin from London!
I should add that at one stage I think they diverted the coaches to run via Heathrow Central, which just added to the journey times.
Althjough not a GL route, the 441 Country bus had a very lengthy run over the years, and at one stage ran I think from Staines via Englefield Green to Slough, then eventually to High Wycombe (over what is now part of the M25).

Yes. The 321 is now operated by Arriva, from Garston garage. They normally use Plaxton/DAF single deckers in a special livery. Arriva will get new buses (Mercedes Single deckers) for route 321 this Autumn. There was a notice on one of the buses.
