These trains were made up of other A stock cars and were renumbered. I have 3 questions about them: 1. What were their original numbers? 2. When were they renumbered? 3. Were any other A stock cars renumbered?

I'm sure that someone on here will know but Brian Hardy's book on underground rolling stock is full of information.

5234-6234-6235-5235 was once unit 5034-6008-6009-5009 which were damaged and put into store till the refurb programme began! 5232-6232-6233-5233 was unit 5028-6028-6117-5117 which were the remains of the two units involved in the Kilburn collision of 1981.
Unit 5116-6116-6117-5117 were formally 5036-6116-6037-5037. This unit had been long term stopped and used for spares, minus trailer 6036 which became a RA Car.

What happened to 5008 and 6034-6035-5035? Also, what was the A stock car that had experimental bogies? (If anyone wants to know why I'm asking all this, I'm making a list of the A stock.)

I thought 5171,6171 were involved at Kilburn.

Were any other A stock cars renumbered? According to my notes, A stock disposals are as follows. HTH. 5029 10/1986 Booth Roe Metals, Rotherham at Neasden depot Col. ACTUALLY.......!!! Cue nasally trainspotter voice... ;D ;D ;D I have Brian Hardy's book (editions 13 & 15 to be really sad) Edition 13 seems to indicate that 5008 & 5034 swapped numbers (7/85) with the original 5034 further renumbered to 5234 (9/94) following refurbishment. Quite a few A 's have been renumbered in their time - according to BH (taken from LU Rolling Stock edition 15): OLD NEW DATE5008 5034 7/85 5009 5234 9/94 5028 5232 6/85 5034 5008 7/85 re-renumbered 5234 9.94 5036 5116 4/93 5037 5117 4/93 5117 5233 8/85 5208 5218 8/92 5209 5121 3/93 6008 6234 9/94 6009 6235 9/94 6028 6232 6/85 6037 6117 4/93 6117 6233 8.85 Why??!!! I'll need to look to someone else..... and also why swap car numbers as opposed to renumbering cause its not heard of at all on national railway (sorry I mean BR).....

5234-6234-6235-5235 was once unit 5034-6008-6009-5009 Why did they renumber the whole unit? At the moment there isn't a 5008-6008-6009-5009 so why renumber it to 5234?

5121 10/1994 Mayer Parry Recycling, Snailwell Col. Neasden dep. 07/10/86 I remember travelling on 5121 many times. It seemed like every time we returned home after meeting my grandmother at Kings Cross, we travelled from Baker St on train 37, where one of the 4-car units it had was 5120-6120-6121-5121

Also, what was the A stock car that had experimental bogies? (If anyone wants to know why I'm asking all this, I'm making a list of the A stock.) 5218 was the car used as a test bed for air metacone suspension trials for the C stock in 1966. It was also used with new bogies with rubber suspension that was used for the D stock. An experimental parking brake was also fitted! Sadly as BRB's list suggests, this car is no longer with us. RIP

Speaking of 5121, I used to have an "official" London Transport postcard of an A stock train, unit 5121 leading with destination of Amersham. I don't recall what the set number was. My collection (which was a birthday present when I was 10 from my dad's secretary) included a C-stock train at an unknown location, a 1967 stock train (at Northumberland Park?), an F stock train with an Uxbridge destination, a P stock train with an Uxbridge destination--maybe taken somewhere between Finchley Rd and Wembley Pk, and a Met electric loco ("John Lyon").
