I'm limiting myself to this forum once a week, promise Watching a DVD which was a narrated cab ride on the Nothern line (Cheers G ) throughout the whole line the driver made one announcement and that was something like 'This train terminates and Morden, this train terminates at Morden' but that's all he did, why did he just make that one-off announcement? Another - The controller is on the radio but the train in question, the driver never speaks to the controller once on the line. Surely that's odd! maybe it was for the film purpose, but surely there's safety regulations?! 1 more from the technical point-of-view. At what stations on the northern line does one close the rear end doors?

Are you sure it's the driver announcing it and not the auto-announcer? If it was the driver, then he/she is doing a good stand-in for the auto one. As for speaking to the Line Controller, maybe there was not a need to do so. During periods of right-time service, with no problems, failures or the like, the train radio is rarely used. We do have such times (normally between 0200 and 0400 ) which is why there are such things as the "Confidence" tone, which bleeps occasionally so you know the thing is working.

The 95ts has an auto announcer, that means the driver doesnt need to make so many P.A.s as the train is doing it for them. Another - The controller is on the radio but the train in question, the driver never speaks to the controller once on the line. Surely that's odd! maybe it was for the film purpose, but surely there's safety regulations?! At the time of filming this video, 'Trunk Radio' was fitted to all trains, if any at all. This means that whatever the controller says will be heard by all trains. So the radio traffic you heard probably didnt apply to the train in question. You only speak to the 'old man' if there is a problem. For example when I was with District Dave for about 8 weeks, i think we spoke to the controller via the radio about 3 / 4 times?

I see, but he made just the one announcement, sure the 95 announcer can do it for him bu why did he do it fo just one station. Not asking why didn't he do it more? I'm asking why did he do it? >>>> DS it was because he was at Camden Town and there are two routes south from Camden Town and a lot of trains via the west end branch terminate at Kennington thanks for cleaning that up. It made me laugh that at every other station there was always a man or a woman who was too late for the train and was trying to prize the doors open
