WTT 253 during 1975 had the following City stabling: Train 11 0854 Amersham - Liverpool St (pfm 3) arr 0950 forms 1617 Amersham. Train 51 0859 Uxbridge - Aldgate (pfm 3) arr 0956 forms 1606 Uxbridge Train 25 0900 Watford - Moorgate (pfm3) arr 0957 forms 1604 Watford Train 30 0910 from Watford - Moorgate (pfm 4) arr 1004 and forms 1615 Watford I always thought the ex-Uxbridge train was 54 (from my past travels). I think you're right. 54 sounds more familiar than 51.

I always thought the ex-Uxbridge train was 54 (from my past travels). I think you're right. 54 sounds more familiar than 51. WTT 253 July 1975 has it in black & white as train 51 stabling at Aldgate. A later WTT coud certainly have it as train 54, they used to change the service a little more during the years of staff shortages. The WTT shows the off peak service on the Watford and Uxbridge branches as 4tph but that was reduced to 3tph at one point only to revert to 4tph again before off peak services ran to the city. The Feb 1972 Underground Guide shows roughly the same timings as for WTT 253 of two years later. WTT 206 Sept 1964 shows: Train 109 0853 Amersham - Liverpool St (pfm 3) arr 0950 forms 1615 Amersham. Train 139 0859 Uxbridge - Aldgate (pfm 3) arr 0957 forms 1607 Uxbridge Train 120 0900 Watford - Moorgate (pfm3) arr 0957 forms 1613 Watford

My experiences with train 54 happened prior to July of '75, as my family moved back to the states in June. Would love to have some Met WTTs from the 60s and 70s.
I noticed that the set numbers mentioned in the above post are all 1xx. Were there any set numbers under 100 in use in those days?

I am not sure when th changed but the 1960's tended to be 100 upwards, 1970's and 1980's 1 upwards then standardised as 400 upwards.

I have a picture in Charles Lee's LT-published Met Line history from the '70s of a then-new A-stock train to Amersham with set number 147. I also have seen pics from the '60s of a train 45 to Uxbridge between Neasden and Wembley Park, along with one in Capital Transport's history of the Met of a Baker St-bound train 48 at Harrow-on-the-Hill.
