What about that ..Class 25 I think it was? D 5[0?]72? The tractors looked as though they may have been Nuffields but I know who can tell!
The terminus with semaphores..was that Richmond?

I'm not sure if I have ever seen anything other than A, C and D stock, I certainly can't recall the red running up the subsurface lines. (I can just recall 38ts in regular service)

Wow, great shots. Check out the Drayton Park one next to it-good to see Control trailers in action! Off topic for the District Line, I know, but since it's been mentioned... Was it standard (no pun intended) to run 2-car trains on the GN&C, albeit presumably only in the off-peak?

Yes it was! During slack hours the trains (as shown) ran DM-CT, and in the rush hour DM-CT+CT-T-T-DM
